Mahat and Sanju were furious over a news item published in a vernacular daily on Tuesday, which claimed that the NSA president had accused the duo of encouraging judo player Suraj Mahat to desert his squad and stay in Korea some 15 months ago. President Bajracharya, however, denied having said such things to the media.
The NSC had formed a committee to investigate into how Suraj Mahat and another judo player Lila Adhikari managed to escape from the hotel and stay illegally in South Korea. After finding the players guilty, the NSC had suspended Sainju for 6 months and vice president Mahat for two years. Sainju, who was also demoted, had later resigned from his post.

Member Secretary holds interaction program
NSA Member Secretary Bishnu Raj Lamsal on Tuesday discussed with all Sports Council affiliated associations about the upcoming South Asian Games (SAG) to be held early next year in Dhaka. Representatives from about 50 sports associations attended the function.
Speaking at the function, Lamsal said, “I am unaware of the nature of problems ailing the sports sector. Today, I would like to use this opportunity to understand it,” adding, “There is very little time to prepare for the upcoming South Asian Games (SAG). Hence, we should all focus our attention on the preparations.”
Representatives from various sports associations also presented their views at the program.
