MAHENDRANAGAR, Jan 9: First Puran Memorial Inter-School Volleyball Tournament began here on Friday. A total of 21 teams, 13 of boys and eight of girls, are competed in the event instituted this year in memory of late Puran Singh Thapa who was the founder publisher of local Rahasyadarshi weekly.[break]
Thapa, who also founded the Tripura Youth Club, died at the age of 31 five years ago. His father, Kishan Singh Thapa, inaugurated the event.
In the opening match, Baijnath Namuna Higher Secondary School, Shanti Niketan HSS registered victories in girl’s event while Baijnath, Yuwa Barsha School won their respective matches in boy’s event.
