The event, being organized jointly by NRN Association and Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), will focus on long-standing agendas like linking second generation NRNs with Nepal, raising standards of Nepalis in foreign jobs and ensuring their safety, roles of senior political leaders and the expectations of civil society and the facilities sought by NRNs. NRNs will also elect a new executive body for the next two years and come up with fresh declarations that will set the course of activities of NRN Association for the days ahead.
A high-level Conference Organizing Committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Narayankaji Shrestha held a review meeting on the preparations for the event.
Addressing the meeting, Shrestha said the current government aims to welcome NRN investments and expertise and use them effectively for country´s socio-economic transformation.
“We are confident the upcoming global conference of NRNs will make huge contribution in enhancing the relations between NRNs and Nepal and garnering support of NRNs for the development of country,” a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted Shrestha as saying during the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the activities carried out by NRNs in Nepal and also formed a four member committee with Paras Ghimire, a joint secretary at Multilateral Economic Affairs Division of the ministry, as its coordinator, to facilitate day-to-day events of the conference.
