Mostly etchings, one can also see a variety of other printmaking techniques in her works, which she has produced over a span of three years. “Printmaking is not a genre that is known to many. People still think that an artist is someone who paints. There are very few artists taking up printmaking. This is one of the main reasons that I chose to work with prints,” shares Prajapati.
Her 47 pieces demonstrates aspects of a daily life as a woman in Nepal. Her prints speak about the plight of women in our society, and the (mis)concepts in the name of superstitions, religion, taboo and faith that lead to such causes of violence.
Another set of her prints also depict the culture and way of life that Prajapati has been brought up in, the Newari culture and Buddhism.
"Truth of Life" is on display till September 19 at Artist Proof Gallery in New Orleans, Pulchowk.
