KATHMANDU, Jan 23: The results of the 71st license exam of the Nepal Medical Council are worrying.
Over two-thirds of the examinees have failed in the exam held at the Institute of Engineering in Pulchowk.
Specialist doctor’s license exam sees only 50% pass rate
According to Council Registrar Dr Satish Kumar Dev, a total of 844 people participated in the exam for MBBS and BDS. However, only 262 people (31.04 percent) passed. Out of these, 562 people (68 percent) failed.
Out of 770 people who filled the form in the medical field, 17 were absent. Out of 753 people who participated in the exam, only 241 people (32.01 percent) passed. The results of 7 people in this group have been withheld.
Out of 95 people who filled the form in the BDS field, 91 people participated in the exam while 4 were absent. Of these, 21 (23.08 percent) passed.
Such a low pass rate has raised questions about the quality of education in the medical and dental colleges.
