WASHINGTON DC, June 20: The Nepalis in Maryland State of the United States of America (USA) now can take exam in the Nepali language for obtaining driving license.
The Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) under the Department of Transportation in the USA is this week launching this provision to be started from the first week of October.
The local civic leader and Non-Resident Nepali Association, Maryland Chapter had been lobbying for the same for some time.

HB Bhandari, who is associated with the largest youth-led political organization in the USA under the Democratic Party- Young Democrats of America, termed this provision an 'important achievement' for the Nepali speaking community in the USA.
Maryland is among the States which has a greater number of Nepalis residing in America.
According to the prevailing law in the USA, the aspirant needs to go through written and practical portions of the US states driving test which vary from State to State.
Apart from English, provisions are put in place to sit for such exam in various other mother languages as Spanish, French, Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese.
The latest provision is applicable for the Nepali speaking community in Maryland State only. RSS
