66 kg of gold seized in FY2018/19

KATHMANDU, June 18: The Department of Revenue Investigation (DoRI) has filed a total of 81 cases related to revenue evasion and leakage in the current fiscal year – FY2018/19.


It has sought Rs 18.32 billion in claims and fines from the accused.

Organizing a press meet in Lalitpur on Monday, Dirgha Raj Mainali, the director general of DoRI, said that these cases of revenue evasion range from gold smuggling to under-invoicing in imports. 


The department has seized a total of 66.4 kg of smuggled goods, said Mainali. Apart from revenue leakage, the department has also filed 64 criminal cases related to foreign exchange misappropriation and hundi against 104 people. It has sought Rs 5.11 billion in claims and fine and from the accused, according to Mainali.
