Volleyball star Ramila Tandukar tested her sporting skills in different sports event on Saturday and she was successful there too. Tandukar, the winner of last year’s Pulsar Popular Player of the Year award, secured gold medal in college level girl’s 100m race besides winning silver and bronze in other events of track and field during the sixth Dr Robert Koch Open Track and Field Meet at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwor.



Tandukar, who represented Edmark Academy, won gold in the short distance sprint clocking 14.6 seconds. Tandukar was 2.13 seconds later than national record holder Devi Maya Paneur in the category. Tandukar also bagged silver in the 400m completing the distance in 1 minute 15.2 seconds and bronze in the long jump overcoming a 3.21m hurdle. [break]



After her success in the track and field event as well, the 12th grader has her eyes on athletics. However, she said that she would still choose volleyball as the main event.



“Athletics is useful in volleyball as well because it helps me to keep fit,” said the 19-year-old Tandukar who has won three scooters as the best player in various tournaments and a motorbike as the Popular Player of the

Year 2068.



“Though I practice running everyday to maintain myself, my main event is volleyball. Now I’m planning to choose a single event of track

and field as well,” said Tandukar.
