Khanal for leftist alliance for polls

KATHMANDU, June 26: CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal Wednesday proposed his counterparts of CPN (ML) and the Rastriya Janamorcha an alliance in the forthcoming Constituent Assembly polls.



Khanal invited CPN (ML) Chairman CP Mainali and Janamorcha Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC to his residence in Dallu and proposed them the idea of an electoral alliance. [break]



During the meeting, Khanal stressed on the need to have inter-party co-operation among ‘democratic, leftist and nationalist forces’ in the elections and said his party is ready to exercise optimum flexibility to create an environment for such an alliance, UML leader Raghuji Panta, who was also present in the meeting, said. Both the invited leaders received Khanal’s proposal positively, Panta added. The leaders however flayed the way the government is running.
