Senior communist leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari cremated with state honors

Late Bharat Mohan Adhikari, former deputy prime minister and four-time finance minister, was cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat in the capital with state honors. Adhikari, 82, passed away on Saturday evening.  He was born to Ram Chandra Adhikari and Purna Kumari Devi as the couple’s youngest son on Baishak 22, 1993 BS.  

Romanian citizen killed in Pokhara paragliding crash

A Romanian citizen died after a glider met with an accident in Pokhara.The solo pilot lost his control in course of landing and plunged into the Fewa lake. The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Ebe Chihjer.

Nepal Army cadet succumbs to bullet injuries

A Nepali Army cadet, Chet Raj Joshi, of Barakh Battalion, Dhankuta succumbed to M-16’s bullet injuries inside the army premises yesterday night.  “We are investigating the case and we can tell the details only after the post-mortem report is one,” Colonel Yubaraj KC said.

Godan pulls out protest programs

The Government Doctors' Association of Nepal (GODAN) has withdrawn its all protest programmes, following an assurance from the government to address the demands. The GODAN was agitating with its dissatisfaction over some points in the employees' adjustment bill. It demands some correction in the document. It demands include guarantee of government doctors under the federal government and career enhancement opportunities for those doctors deployed at the local and province levels. 

Chhetri certified as best instructor and referee in Nepal

Master Raju Chhetri, a 6th Dan Black Belt holder, has been certified as the best Taekwondo athlete, instructor and referee in Nepal. Chhetri was granted 6th Dan Black Belt from the World Taekwondo Headquarter, Kukkiwon (WTF) in 2013. He is International Master Instructor and International Referee, recognised by World Taekwondo Federation (WTF). 

Russia tells U.S. it is ready for bilateral talks on Venezuela

Russia is ready to take part in bilateral talks with the United States over the issue of Venezuela, Russia’s foreign minister told his U.S. counterpart late on Saturday. The situation in Venezuela was the main topic in a phone call between Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that took place on March 2, Russia’s foreign ministry said on its website.
