60 quintals Chhurpi exported to US from Ranke Bazaar monthly

ILAM, Sept 23: Approximately 60 quintals of Chhurpi (a traditional cheese) worth about Rs 8 million is exported every month to the United States of America from Ranke Bazaar bordering Ilam and Panchthar districts, local traders said.

ILAM, Sept 23: Approximately 60 quintals of Chhurpi (a traditional cheese) worth about Rs 8 million is exported every month to the United States of America from Ranke Bazaar bordering Ilam and Panchthar districts, local traders said.

The cheese is collected from various places in Ilam including Chamaita, Ektappa, Phuitappa, Sankhejung, Puwamajhuwa, Phakphok, Aamchowk, and Chilingden, Panchami and Phaktep in Panchthar before exporting to the US, said Sanjaya Limbu involved in the business. 


"The collected cheese is transported to Kathmandu before reaching the US," he added. 

The price of the cheese is set at Rs 750 to Rs 900 per kilogram in the local market, while it is sold for Rs 1,300 to Rs 1,500 per kilogram after its grading and packaging.(RSS)
