KATHMANDU, March 18: Six Nepali Congress (NC) affiliated students were injured when Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League (YCL) cadres allegedly attacked them Wednesday evening when they were in their hostel at Padma Kanya (Girls’) Campus.

Central member of NC-affiliated Nepal Student Union (NSU), Madhukar Khanal, told myrepublica.com that the Sunita KC, Chanda Sharma, Puja Chand and Rama Thapa were seriously injured in the attack and are currently undergoing treatment at the Model Hospital, while two others were discharged after being treated for minor injuries.

Khanal said the YCL cadres resorted to attack after NSU objected to Maoist-affiliated students’ demand of profiles of all students of the campus from the Election Commission, according to Khanal.

Traditionally an NSU stronghold, the Padma Kanya Campus has seen poll alliance of Maoist and CPN-UML affiliated student unions for the Thursday poll of Free Student Union.
