KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Nepal welcomed around 6,000 foreign visitors in the month of August, which is almost double than that of the previous month.
3,670 Chinese tourists have visited Nepal so far in 2022
According to the Department of Immigration, a total of 1,985 Indian tourists visited Nepal last month. Of the visitors from 33 countries, 2,192 individuals were from SAARC countries and 1,015 were Europeans. Similarly, 1,244 US citizens, 416 from England and 253 Chinese visitors came to Nepal during the period.
Nepal’s tourism business is one of the sectors hit hard by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The hospitality business was about to gather some momentum in March with the inflow of an encouraging number of foreign visitors in the aftermath of the first wave of the pandemic last year. However, it was crippled again after the second wave of the coronavirus hit the country.
