JANAKPURDHAM, Sept 9: The Madhesh Province government constructed and expanded 591.18 kilometres of roads across all eight districts of the province in the last Fiscal Year (FY) 2025/26.
The government has prioritised building road infrastructure to connect rural settlements and market areas with major road networks in the province.

Rohit Joshi, information officer at the Provincial Government's Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development, said that a total of 591.18 kilometres of roads were constructed and expanded across the province through the Infrastructure Development Office last FY.
The roads constructed include RCC-paved, gravelled and black-topped roads. According to Joshi, 227.06 kilometres of RCC-paved roads were constructed in various districts of the province during the period. Similarly, 336.68 kilometres of roads were gravelled, while 27.44 kilometres of roads were black-topped.
Along with road construction, the government has also focused on developing necessary infrastructure along both sides of the roads. During the period, 61.10 kilometres of concrete drains were constructed, information officer Joshi said.
The provincial government has also accelerated the construction of small and medium-sized bridges alongside road infrastructure. According to the ministry, 138 culverts, 184 Hume pipes and three bridges were constructed and brought into operation in various districts of the province during the last FY.
