US supports Nepal Police

KATHMANDU, Feb 21: The US has supported Nepal Police for the construction of three buildings at the Nepal Police Regional Training Center at Biratnagar and a new border police station at Rani.



According to a statement issued by US embassy on Thursday US Ambassador Peter W Bodde and Nepal Police IGP Kuber Singh Rana jointly inaugurated the four buildings. [break]



The new buildings consist of a cafeteria, classrooms, women´s barracks and the new border station at Rani. The facilities will help train a new generation of Nepal Police in a well-equipped and professional environment, according to the statement. A total of US$ 750,000 was spent in the construction of the buildings and equipping them with furniture.



At the inauguration Bodde said the US government has been a strong supporter of the Nepal Police and realized the importance of strengthening the capacity of Nepal Police throughout the country.
