KATHMANDU, June 3: Nepal on Wednesday said that it supports China's efforts to maintain law and order in Hong Kong.
Responding to media queries on China's new National Security Law for Hong Kong, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bharat Raj Paudyal said "Nepal reiterates its one China policy and considers Hong Kong as an integral part of the People’s Republic of China. Maintenance of peace, law and order is a primary responsibility of a nation. Nepal believes in non-interference in the internal affairs of any country and supports China’s efforts to maintain law and order in Hong Kong."
Hong Kong, the Pearl of the Orient, will shine again
The National People's Congress, China's top legislature, had approved at its annual session last week the decision on establishing and improving the legal system and enforcement mechanisms for Hong Kong to safeguard national security.
Following this move, the United States has threatened to impose sanctions against China over the country's national security legislation for Hong Kong.
