DEO distributes goodies to keep students at school

SINDHUPALANCHOWK, Dec 23: In a bid to encourage students from the Tamang community to attend school, the District Education Office (DEO) of Sindhupalanchowk on Sunday distributed various education materials to students of a local Narayan Lower Secondary School.



A majority of Tamang children drop out of school even before completing an academic session. The DEO distributed school bags, lunch boxes, water-bottles, and three exercise books and a pen to each students till the seventh grade in the school.[break]



“We have distributed education materials to 377 students so as to encourage them to keep going to school,” said District Education Officer Gahanath Gautam. The education materials were provided Helambu Education and Livelihood Project (HELP), an NGO.



According to principal of the school Purna Pandit, though 437 students were enrolled only 377 students attend the school regularly.
