According to an NAC official, the company had declined to fly to Simikot after getting news that the residents were planning to take the plane in control upon its arrival there.
For the last few days, residents of Humla have been disrupting regular flights to Simikot protesting “high air fares” accumulated by some of the airlines flying to the remote district. According to local businessmen, local residents had also taken airplane of Yeti Airlines and a helicopter of Simrik Air in control for a day a week ago to protest the high fares collected by these companies.
However, one of the arrested said they protested after they started facing problems due to lack of flights to Simikot.
