Content of Buddha images shoe removed

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: US-based Company which had promoted its shoes with images of the Lord Buddha has removed promotional content from its website, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal (MoFA) said on Monday.



The Embassy of Nepal in the United States informed the MoFA that Icon Shoe products had removed promotional contents from its website, a press statement issued by the government to CPN Coordination Committee reads.[break]



The committee had expressed its reservation through the government and demanded ban on production and sale of the shoes.



The Buddhist fraternity from around the world had flayed the California based company for depicting images of the Buddha on several designs of its shoes.
