5.9-magnitude quake rocks east Nepal

KATHMANDU, Oct 3: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale rocked eastern hills of Nepal with its epicenter in Sikkim on Thursday morning, an official at the Seismological Center, Lainchaur, told Republica over telephone. [break]



It struck at 11:57 am today.



Minor tremors were also felt in the Kathmandu Valley.



The damage caused by the quake is yet to be reported.
