Rain interrupts Nepal's practice match

KATHMANDU,. Aug 21: Heavy rainfall has hampered Nepali national cricket team´s first practice match in Sri Lanka. Nepali team is currently in Sri Lanka for the preparation of ICC World Cricket League Division 4.



On Tuesday, Nepal had played its first practice match against Western Province in Colombo. Batting first Nepal scored 123 runs losing all the wickets in 43 overs. [break]Nepal´s skipper Paras Khadka scored 24 runs, Shakti Gauchan 29 runs and Sharad Vesawkar 28 runs. Dusan claimed three wickets for Western Province.



Meanwhile, the match was interrupted in the 10th over after the local team had scored 32 runs for the loss of four wickets. Binod Das and Amrit Bhattarai had claimed two wickets apiece for Nepali team.



According to Nepali team sources, fast bowler Chandra Saud did not play on Tuesday due to minor injuries. Two local players had featured as fielders from the Nepali side. A ten member Nepali team is in Sri Lanka to prepare for Division 4. U-19 World Cup team captain Prithu Baskota, vice captain Pradip Aire, Rahul BK and Subash Khakurel and caoch Pubudu Dassanayake will join the team after completion of tournament in Australia.
