KATHMANDU, July 16: CPN-Maoist Secretary Dev Gurung has said that it was unconstitutional to bring the budget by the caretaker government.

Speaking at an interaction on ´ Review of the Budget for 2069-70 BS´ organized by Media Vision Nepal on Monday, Gurung accused the Baburam Bhattarai-led government of becoming a hindrance to bringing a full-shape budget.[break]

Similarly, CPN-UML leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari said the complete budget with the formation of the national consensus government would be possible if Prime Minister Bhattarai resigned from the post.

An announcement of a one-third budget has proved that the Bhattarai-led government has been a total failure to meet its targets.

Economist Dilliraj Khanal said it was totally wrong to claim that a one-third budget was announced just for continuing the government.

The government decided to bring the one-third budget just for consensus among the political parties, he said.

He further said the nation could plunge into a grave crisis if the prime minister resigns from the post without finding his alternative.

The government on Sunday presented a one-third budget of Rs.161.24 billion for the four months of the current fiscal year.
