SC demands DPR on TIA mgmt handover

KATHMANDU, July 12: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday ordered the government to furnish detailed project report (DPR) of the latter´s plan to hand over the management of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to an Indian Company.



Responding to a writ petition demanding annulment of the government´s decision, a special bench of the apex court comprising Justices Damodar Prasad Sharma, Sushila Karki and Kamal Narayan Das issued the order to the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM). [break]



The next hearing on the petition is scheduled for July 26. The government has planned to hand over management of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Limited (IL&FS) of India.
