KATHMANDU, July 27: Nepali Congress (NC) has claimed that it has taught a lesson of democratic norms to the two- thirds majority government led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Speaking at a press meet organized at the central party headquarters in Sanepa on Friday, Bishwa Prakash Sharma, spokesperson of the party, said the government backed away from its arrogance on the demands of Dr KC after NC staged protests both in the Parliament and the streets.

Sharma further said that the Oli government did not want to bring Medical Education Bill in line with the medical ordinance issued by the then NC government, as a result of it Dr KC and we resorted to demonstrations and that it finally piled pressure on the Oli government to back off from its stance.

Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said that they are now preparing to raise the issue regarding speaker and deputy speaker.

The speaker and deputy speaker should represent different parties in line with the Article 91 of the Constitution while now both the positions are being held by the Nepal Communist Party.
