As per the agreement, the company will provide all the government offices with free anti-virus under the recommendation of OCC. The government will only be charged Rs 25 as stationery charge.
Rajan Raj Pant, controller of OCC, said the agreement was very important for risk-free digital environment at government offices. "Millions of rupees of the government is going to be saved," he said, adding, "Agreement like this was essential first program of Virus-Free Nepal Campaign launched by the ministry." The ministry is launching the campaign with the beginning of the new fiscal year.
Pant said the office will recommend the number of licenses for a particular office on the basis of MAC (Media Access Control) Address to make sure the facility is not misused. Under the agreement, a government office can obtain free license for up to 50 users. He said for every user two licenses with validity of six months will be provided.
Speaking at the MoU signing function, Jagganath Patanaik, channel director-South Asia of Kaspersky Lab said, "We are very proud to support the government´s campaign. Patanaik said that in today´s internet age it was essential to keep digital environment free from unwarranted malawares. " The risk of security is increasing as number of targeted attacks is growing," he said.
The company is targeting government offices and schools in rural areas in particular for providing security to digital content.
Sagar Software has also expressed commitment to providing 40 percent discount on the market price of anti-virus and internet security after the campaign gets over.
