KATHMANDU, April 4: A total of 43 claims have been filed for the properties damaged in the course of pro-monarchy protest. According to the data from the Nepal Insurance Authority (NIA), claims amounting to a total of Rs 48.7 million have been filed as of Wednesday.
Out of the total claims, 33 are related to motor insurance. The NIA has stated that claims amounting to Rs 1.22 million have been filed under this category. Of these claims, payments of Rs 43,822 have already been made for two claims.

Additionally, for property insurance, 16 claimshave filed claims totaling Rs 31.166 million. However, no payments have been made as of now.
The highest number of claims for payments has been filed with the National Insurance Company Limited. The company has stated that it has received claims of Rs 12.7 million for two insurance policies.
Among the received claims, Shikhar Insurance Company Ltd (SICL) has already paid Rs 45,012 for 3 out of 5 claims. The remaining companies, however, have not made any payments so far.
Following last Friday's incident, the NIA directed insurance companies to make prompt payments for the damaged properties by Sunday. However, the NIA mentioned that this is only an initial report, and more claims may be received in the coming days.
