The gate of the Shankar Hotel and the front area of the Standard Chartered Bank and Ambassador Hotel have already been demolished.[break]
The demolition drive to widen the roads has started in the area despite severe protest from the locals.
The Maharajgunj-Lainchaur stretch has been blocked and vehicles diverted elsewhere to facilitate the widening process.
