Earlier, the NC did not receive the dead body putting demands including declaring the late Poudel as martyr and withdrawal of the fake cases filed against him and other Tarun Dal cadres, providing necessary compensation to the family of the deceased and taking stern action against chief of the security body deputed for prison security.
NC President Sushil Koirala had paid final tribute to Poudel by draping his dead body with party flag. On the occasion, NC central office-bearers and members, leaders and cadres of party sister wings and well-wishers also paid floral tribute to the mortal body of Poudel.
The dead body of Poudel will be airlifted to his home town Chitwan by a chopper of the Nepal Army (NA) and that the last rites will be performed in Devghat after holding mourning rally from 12 noon today, informed NC central member Deepak Giri.
The NC organized a nationwide general strike yesterday saying the government turned down their demands on the issue of the death of its cadre Poudel.
Poudel, who sustained serious injuries to his head in a fatal attack by jail inmates in Chitwan District Prison on December 6, died while undergoing treatment in Neuro Hospital in Kathmandu on December 17.
