Nepali team is taking on Afghanistan in the semifinal on Friday at the JLN Stadium. This is the first time that Nepal had made it through to the semifinal after 1999 Goa SAFF.
ANFA made the announcement to provide two bedroom apartment at Mero City to all 23-members of the team through a press release. The 23-member team includes 20 players, a coach and two assistant coaches.
"This is an ambitious plan and ANFA is always ambitious for the welfare of players and football," ANFA president Ganesh Thapa told Republica.
"I hope this annoucement will motivate players to perform better," Thapa said.
"Though ANFA is not in the condition to provide apartment on its own we will bear 30 to 40 percent of the cost. I hope we will get support from all sides including the government, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Sports Council (NSC), corporate houses and sports loving people of the nation in our efforts," Thapa said, adding, "We are committed to our announcement."
Declaring former national team captain Rakesh Shrestha the best player of year 2067 BS, the ANFA has provided him an apartment at Mero City in August earlier this year. The apartment is worth Rs 2.5 million.
Regarding the semifinal match to be played on Friday, Thapa said, "Afghanistan is not a weak side and it is improving gradually. But Nepal is putting up exemplary performance in the SAFF."
