Two killed in elephant attack

BHADRAPUR, Dec 4: Two women were killed in an elephant attack at Budhabare-9 in Jhapa district on Sunday morning.



The deceased are 68-year-old Maya Limbu of Budhabare VDC-9 and 52-year-old Sabitri Ojha of Budhabare VDC-5, police said.[break]



According to the Area Police Office, Birtamod, the two women who had gone out of their house were pursued by a wild elephant which then trampled them.



Limbu died on the spot while Ojha died shortly after being admitted to the Kankai Hospital in Birtamod.



The wild tusker that is believed to have come from the bordering forest across India is still roaming at Ward Number 3 of the VDC.



Locals and the police are chasing away the beast. So far five people have lost lives in elephant attacks at different places in Jhapa district over the last three months.
