Oleanna to be staged

KATHMANDU, Nov, 30: Deborah Merola, a Senior Fulbright Fellow, was the toast among the local theatre aficionados when she showcased the widely acclaimed play “Angels in America: Millennium Approaches” at Nepal Tourism Board  on June 5 this year.



Merola has been working with Aarohan Gurukul since 2010 and has initiated an English language theatre production company ‘One World Theatre.’ [break]



The company will have its inauguration with the play ‘Oleanna’ by David Mamet on December 2 at Moksh Live, Jhamsikhel.



Oleanna which deals with the issue of sexual harassment and political correctness gripped public attention in the United States of the 1990s. The story is of John, a college professor, and Carol, a student failing his course, and the unforeseen consequences of their private meetings in his office.



The play boasts a capable cast of Anup Baral, Shanti Giri, Deeya Maskey and Namrata Shrestha.



The show will continue till December 4 and will be staged again from December 9 to 11.The play will begin at 5:30 pm on all show days and are priced at Rs 500. Students can avail special discount and enjoy the world-class play for Rs100.
