They expressed such views during a national gathering of women Maoists from the Bhattarai faction held in Thamel, Kathmandu on Saturday. [break]
“They are threatening to finish off our political careers if we don´t support the party establishment,” a participant quoted a woman leader as saying during the meeting.
Most other participants had also echoed her voice saying that those close to Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal are also discriminating against them on financial matters and depriving them of organizational responsibilities as pressure tactics to make them quit the Bhattarai faction. The full-timers depend on the money doled out by the party.
According to sources, some 150 cadres from across the country participated in the gathering where Dr Bhattarai, Devendra Poudel, Hisila Yami and Nawaraj Subedi, among others, trained the women cadres.
Arguing that Chairman Dahal is left without any political line, Bhattarai told the gathering that the struggle in the party is only between Senior Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya and himself.
“We are struggling against the chairman´s monopoly, while we differ with Baidya on the issue of political line. This will lead to the transformation of the party and not split it,” a participant quoted Bhattarai as saying.
With growing factionalism in the party, the three different party factions -- led by Dahal Baidya and Bhattarai -- are holding separate gatherings of the cadres across the country to consolidate their respective positions in the party.
