“The suicide incident has mentally disturbed the students in the area. They are not in the mood to study,” said Mahesh Shrestha, executive committee chairman of Pushpa Sadan School, where a tenth grader girl allegedly committed suicide three days ago.
On Friday, a 15 year old girl student at Pushpa Sadan School was found hanging from the school´s hostel, reportedly, after being scorned by teachers for exchanging answer-sheet with a friend during the optional math exam.
The deceased girl´s parents, however, have accused school teachers of brutally beating her to death.
According to Shree Hari Aryal, the deceased girl´s uncle, teachers marked her answer sheet with red ink, forced the girl to stand in the scorching sun for hours and threatened to rusticate her from the school. “They (teachers) say our daughter committed suicide after being punished for cheating,” Aryal said, adding, “But circumstantial evidences show she was brutally beaten to death.”
According to Aryal, the deceased girl had several bruises on her cheek, thigh and back. “It was clear that she was thrashed,” he said.
"Besides, she was found hanging from a bunk bed in the school´s hostel, which is five feet and three inches tall. But, how can it be possible when our daughter herself was five feet tall. Also, the teachers say they broke the door to take our daughter to hospital. But, the door of the room, where she allegedly committed suicide, is not broken.”
The deceased girl´s father Man Hari Aryal on Sunday lodged a complaint against five teachers, including the executive chairman Shrestha, at the Area Police Office Kalimati charging them with murdering her daughter.
Shrestha said, “The post-mortem report shows the girl committed suicide. I do not have to say anything about the fact that has already been established by doctors´ report.”
