Doti jeep accident victims identified

Three people who were killed in Doti bus accident have been identified. They are Anita Khadka, 19, of Adarsha rural municipality-1, jeep driver Khemraj Ojha, 55, of KI Singh rural municipality-1 and Roshan Tamrakar, 25, of Bogtan rural municipality-6, according to the District Police Office, Doti. Similarly, eight others were also injured in the same accident. The condition of Hemraj Upadhaya, 24, of KI Singh rural municipality-1, Hansu Khadka, 42, and Sarita Khadka, 13, of Adarsha rural municipality-1 is reported to be critical. Of the critically injured, three have been sent to Nepalgunj for further treatment. Others are undergoing treatment at Saileshwori polyclinic, Dipayal. 

All parties should be active to make upcoming elections a success: DPM Thapa

Deputy Prime Minister and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman, Kamal Thapa, has said that the major political parties should be active to bring good governance through democratic culture in the country. He said that election is the primary medium to establish political stability and long-term peace in the country and to head the people towards economic prosperity. 

Renewable energy technology to be extended in rural areas: Minister Chaudhary

Minister for Population and Environment Mithila Chaudhary has stressed on extending the access to renewable energy technology to the public in rural areas.  Chaudhary shared that Nepal was receiving support for the promotion of renewable energy technology from international community as Nepal has ratified various treaties relating to it. At present, only 16 per cent people have access to alternative energy across the country. 

Free internet services in Nilkantha Municipality

The Nilkantha Municipality in Dhading has started free internet connectivity in 20 locations within the municipality including Municipality Office, 14 ward offices and four parks to be constructed by the municipality. The first meeting of the people's representatives had announced to develop the municipality as the smart city and an agreement was inked with Microsoft Animation Centre Company on Friday. 

58 metric tonnes of garbage collected from Kathmandu rivers

At least 58 metric tons of solid waste has been managed under clean-up campaigns of different rivers and ring road clean-up campaign in Kathmandu valley. 

Afghanistan moves to block WhatsApp, Telegram messaging services

Afghanistan’s telecoms regulator wrote to internet service providers this week ordering them to block the messaging services WhatsApp and Telegram but it was not immediately clear whether they had complied. Social media users and civil rights groups reacted with outrage to initial reports of the move and the letter sent by telecoms regulator ATRA was widely shared on social media.Some media reports, citing unidentified sources, said the move had been ordered by the National Directorate for Security to thwart the use of the encrypted messaging services by the Taliban and other insurgent groups.
