Election Commission to release list of proportional representatives

Election Commission is set to release the list of proportionate candidates for State Assemblies and House of Representatives elections on November 26 and December 7. Of the list, 330 will be elected. The spokesperson for Election Commission Nawaraj Dhakal confirmed the list to be released after 17:00 PM today. According to Dhakal, 49 parties have submitted candidacy for House of Representatives and 55 for State Assembly as proportional representation.

Submit guns by Nov 16: Kathmandu DAO urges people

The District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu has urged individual gun holders to compulsorily handover licensed arms (guns and pistols) by Nov. 16 for the upcoming election period.  The Office has banned any individual except those getting authority to carry and wield any sorts of arms like gun and pistol, lathi and khukuri during the election. Likewise, possession and demonstration of explosive and chemical devices and toxic substances by any individual has been completely banned. 

Two held with endangered animal skin

The police have arrested Dawa Sherpa (21) and Saden Sherpa (26) with skins of tiger and red panda. The duo was awaiting potential buyers at Yellow Gumba of Nagarjun-2 when the Metropolitan Police Division-Swayambhu arrested them on Thursday.

Nepal stresses on apt policy to mitigate impact of global warming

Nepal's permanent representative for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Ambika Luitel has highlighted the need to implement appropriate programmes to mitigate the adverse effects of global warming on Nepal's Himalayas. Nepal's Permanent Representative to UNESCO, Luitel stated that global warming was affecting mountain regions of Nepal as well as hampering biodiversity of the entire South Asia.

Nepal U-19 cricket team to play 2nd practice match tomorrow

Nepal travelled to Bangladesh as part of the preparations for the upcoming ACC U-19 Youth Asia Cup. It will play the second practice match against the home team tomorrow. The match will start on 08: 45 AM Nepali standard time in the morning. Nepal and Bangladesh are in the same group, A, in the Asia Cup along with India and host Malaysia. Nepal U-19 Cricket Team suffered three wickets’ defeat to the home side in their first practice match on Thursday.  In the match played at Krira Shikkha Prothisthan Ground, Savar, Bangladesh U-19 won the toss and chose to field before bowling out the visitors for 153-9 in the allotted 50 overs. In reply, the home team Bangladesh met the target losing out seven wickets in 39 overs.  Sandeep Lamichhne bagged a 4-wicket-haul in the first match whilst Aasif Sheikh was top scorer with the bat with 32 runs to his name from 77 deliveries opening the batting.

Man Utd boss Mourinho in Madrid courts before Chelsea reunion

Just 48 hours before this weekend’s Premier League clash with Chelsea, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho appeared in a Madrid court on Friday to testify in front of a judge regarding charges surrounding tax evasion to the tune of 3.3 million euros (£2.9 million) between 2011 and 2012. The case relates to the Portuguese’s image rights when he was the head coach of Real Madrid. Mourinho is alleged to have not declared taxable income of 1.6 million euros in 2011 and 1.7 million euros in 2012.
