Bhola Mardi of Bokrajhadi, Rajgadh-1, his wife Maine and Meena Mardi of Diglibari, Rajgadh-2 were brutally thrashed after a youth in the village died. [break]
Villagers held a meeting after Devan Mardi´s 15-year-old daughter Somi died in course of treatment following nine months of illness and decided to beat them up accusing them of practicing witchcraft.
The three have lodged a complaint with Rajgadh Police on Wednesday and one of the accused Paltan Mardi has been arrested. The victims are currently undergoing treatment at the local health post.
Family sources claimed the victims could not be taken out of the village for further treatment due to lack of money.
