The Department of Electricity Development (DoED) has terminated the survey licenses of three projects after the respective license holders didn´t renew the licenses on time. "The DoED had awarded survey licenses of the projects in 2008," Gokarna Raj Pantha, senior divisional engineer at the DoED told Republica. [break]
According to Pantha, the DoED had provided survey license of Katti Khola project to five individuals led by one Dinesh Niraula. "Padam Kalika Hydroelectric Private Ltd had got survey license of Padam Khola project and Horizon Energy Development Company was awarded survey license of Upper Katti Khola project," Pantha said.
The DoED that issues license to small, medium and large scale hydropower projects in the country had notified the license holders to pay renewal fee on time, said Pantha.
Also this week, the DoED cancelled survey license of 6.75 MW Upper Panpu Khola that was awarded to Diwas Bahadur Basnet in 2007. The license was cancelled after the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report was not approved as the project is located inside Annapurna Conservation Area.
