The assembly was attended by 23 district members and the executive committee members of NeBA. [break]
Narendra Thapa continued his position as the senior vice -resident of NeBA after the election while Som Rai is a new face elected to the post of vice-president.
Other members elected unanimously in the new five-member executive committee are Dinesh Thapa (general secretary), Hom Badhur Dong (secretary) and Phadindra Man Shrestha (treasurer). All three are new faces. Raj Kumar Maharjan, Pawan Kumar Thapa, Man Badhur Ale, Achyut Singh Bhandari, Kiram Poudel and Dinesh Prashad Aryal are the new elected members of the central committee.
The six members were elected from among seven candidates who had stood for election. Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) General Secretary Jiwan Ram Shrestha inaugurated the general assembly as the chief guest. Ganga Bahadur Thapa, vice-president of NOC, was the observer of the elective general assembly while the election committee formed by National Sports Council (NSC) was headed by its members Gyanendra Shrestha, Lal Kumar Lama and Rajesh Gurung.
Presenting the report, president Sherpa said that Nepali Basketball has achieved a lot during his session. Both men´s and women´s team had come up with impressive results, according to Sherpa. “We are now promoting youth basketball as we are strong and can do better in the youth category,” he said.
President Sherpa further added that the covered hall under construction in the Budhanilkantha region will be one of the best in South Asia. “The construction has been delayed due to financial problem but we are sure to complete the project.”
The assembly passed the progress report submitted by president Sherpa and the audit report and financial report submitted by outgoing treasurer Dinesh Thapa.
