29 including five health workers test positive for coronavirus in Nawalparasi West

NAWALPARASI, Aug 23: Twenty-nine individuals including five health workers in Nawalparasi district (west) were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease on Sunday.

NAWALPARASI, Aug 23: Twenty-nine individuals including five health workers in Nawalparasi district (west) were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease on Sunday.


According to Gaurav Dhakal, the chief of District Public Health Office, Nawalparasi West, five health workers, some locally-elected people's representatives, officials at the Palhinandan Rural Municipality and some others tested positive for coronavirus.

Prithvi Chandra Hospital in Parasi has been sealed off until further notice after four health workers including three doctors of the hospital were found to have been infected with COVID-19. The hospital has closed all services except maternity owing to the coronavirus transmission, according to Dr Mohammad Nural Hoda, the officiating medical superintendent at the hospital. One health worker from the Palhinandan Rural Municipality also tested positive for the virus.


Chief District Officer Sagar Mani Pathak said that the local administration has given priority to contact tracing with the surge in coronavirus cases in recent days. As of today, Nawalparasi West has reported 172 COVID-19 cases.
