Three vying for NTUC top job

BIRGUNJ, April 5: Three labor leaders are vying for the post of Chairman of Nepal Trade Union Congress in its first national convention, which is being held after unification of Nepali Congress and Nepali Congress (Democratic) in 2005. Outgoing chairman Laxman Basnet, co-chairman Khila Nath Dahal, and Pushkar Acharya have filed candidacies for the post of chairman. Elections are set to begin at 1 pm. Basnet was heading Nepali Congress’s labor wing and Dahal was chief of NC (D)’s labor wing. The event has been seen as an unification convention.
