Salary delay forces Nepalis to return from Qatar

KATHMANDU, April 4: About 100 Nepali workers of a construction firm in Qatar who stayed away from work for more than three months have received their salary arrears from their employers.



According to  Gulf Times on Friday, Nepal´s Ambassador to Qatar Dr Suryanath Mishra said about 40 of those who had received salary arrears had already returned home in the third week of March.



The workers had stayed away from sites following the company´s inability to pay salaries on time.



Most of the workers had been in Qatar for periods ranging between 15 and 22 months.



The ambassador also said Nepal´s Labor Minister Lekh Raj Bhatta is expected to visit Qatar on April 18.
