RAJBIRAJ: A fire that broke out in Tikuli VDC in south-western part of Saptari on Sunday gutted 27 houses, damaging properties worth Rs 3 million. According to the police, the fire broke out at midday from the house of Ram Dev Sada quickly engulfed the Muslim dominated village. The fire destroyed properties including cash, clothes and food grains. It took three hours for two fire brigades from Rajbiraj and Lahan municipalities, Nepal Army and Nepal Police personnel and locals to douse the fire. District Police Office, Saptari provided 50 kg of rice and 50 kg of puffed rice to the fire victims as immediate relief. Nepal Army has also provided 5 kg rice and 2 kg pulse, sugar, biscuits, oils to each of the affected families.
