BANGKOK, Feb 9: Nepali captain Prithu Baskota strained his ligament while fielding during the match against Qatar and was taken to hospital. He will miss the final match as he needs a rest for three weeks.

Baskota was injured during fielding in mid off in the 10th over. He was taken off the field after he was unable to recover. He was then rushed to the hospital by Nepali team manager Basanta Satyal.[break]

The X-ray findings showed that Prithu had his ligament strained. "I thought my leg was broken but the doctor said it is only a strain," Baskota said adding, "The doctor has advised me not to do strenous work for a month."

"I am very much disappointed as I won´t be able to play in the final and it is one of the most painful moments of my life."

Baskota however, expressed his confidence that the team´s performance won´t go down in his absence as the team was playing very well.

Rahul Kumar Bishwokarma had taken the captainship in absence of Baskota after the latter was injured.

Baskota has won the toss in all the eight matches Nepal played during Nepal´s tour to Bangladesh and Thailand.

However, this is not the first time Baskota sustained injuries during a match. He was also injured during 11th South Asian Games in Bangladesh last year.

Bishwokarma who captained Nepali squad in absence of Baskota was declared the man-of-the-match for second time in a row. He had hauled four wickets on Tuesday to register 20 wickets in his name. If he can claim one more wicket in the final he will be the highest Nepali wicket taker in an international tournament.

Earlier, Mehboob Alam had taken 19 wickets in ICC WCL Division 5 in Jersey while Krishna Karki has taken 20 wickets in two one-dayer of ACC U-16 Elite Cup held in Malaysia.
