CHITWAN, Aug 30: A total of 260 bodies washed downstream to Chitwan following the Bhotekoshi flood have been recovered so far, with search and management efforts continuing along the Trishuli and Narayani rivers.
According to the District Police Office, Chitwan, 100 bodies have been managed in a forest area in Devghat. Police have preserved DNA samples from the bodies before carrying out the management process, said police information officer Chandrabhusan Yadav.

So far, nine bodies have been identified and handed over to their families. They include eight men and one girl.
Of the 259 bodies recovered whose details have been recorded, 60 are women, 107 men, six boys, four girls and 82 remains.
As bodies continue to be found along riverbanks, the Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel have been jointly deployed for search and management operations.
