NAWALPARASI, Aug 14: At least 26 village development committees (VDCs) in Nawalparasi are prone to high risk of flooding in the Narayani river.
The Rampurkhadaina, Bhujhawa, Pratapur, Kudiya, Nursahi, Paklihawa, Triveni Susta and Guthi Prasaini VDCs located at the Nepal – India border are at high risk of flooding from nearby Narayani river.
The settlements in Prasauni, Narayani, Kolhuwa, Pithaula, Kawasoti, Dhauwadi, Rajhar in Nawalpur sector – which is also lies near the Narayani river – also face high risk of flooding, Community Disaster District Network, Nawalparasi Chairman, Shiva Prasad Neupane said.
District Natural Disaster Relief Community in coordination with Oxfam, Care Nepal, Sahamati, Indreni Social Development Forum and Community Disaster Network are working to spread awareness and carryout precautionary measures to prevent natural disasters in these villages.
A community building has been established at Pithauli to relocate the settlements in an eventuality of a flooding. RSS
