200 women rescued at Birgunj in 2010: Maiti Nepal

PARSA, Jan 6: A periodic home of Maiti Nepal in Birgunj rescued more than 200 women and children while being trafficked from Birgunj checkpoint in the year of 2010, according to Maiti Nepal.



It was made public through an annual review programme under ´Our Voice for trafficking-free Society´ organized here on Wednesday by Maiti Nepal office in Birgunj.[break]



As many as 291 women and children were rescued of trafficking from Birgunj checkpoint in 2010, informed Maiti Nepal, Birgunj Chief Sangita Puri.



She also informed that four women, who were reeling under a very humiliated life in various places of India, were also rescued in the year.



Similarly, among the cases and applications filed during the year 2010 are 18 of domestic violence, one trafficking and 70 applications related to disappearance of women and children, she further informed.
