The work of survey and finishing, and clearing the structures inside the airport have been begun with the initiative of the District Administration Office, Surkhet.[break]
Earlier, the airport expansion project was halted after some landowners denied receiving the compensation of the land annexed for the airport construction.
Chief District Officer Birendra Bahadur Baniya said that the work was started after all locals received the amount for compensation for land.
A team of technicians including engineer Ram Ekwal Mahato of Civil Avial Authority has arrived Surkhet for the survey after dispute on compensation issue was over.
The big aircraft cannot land and take off in the airport due to insufficient length of the airport though it was blacktopped some four years ago.
Officials of the Authority said the expansion works will be completed within this fiscal year if budget was allocated on time and works were not halted in midway.
