“We supply electricity across the far western region through this very station,” said Nari Chanda, Dadeldhura branch chief of NEA. “Power supply will be eased only after the repair works are completed.”
Local newspapers and FM radios are on the verge of shutting down as a result of continuous power cut. “This is the first time in far west that we have been facing long hours of power cut,” said Dipak Mahar, a local resident of Dadeldhura.
Mid Marshyangdi resumes operation
KATHMANDU, Dec 9: Mid-Marshyangdi hydropower project, which had been partially closed for maintenance, has come into operation from Wednesday. “Maintenance work of the first unit (turbine 1) was completed before 10 days.
Now the next unit (turbine 2) has also been fixed,” Chiranjeevi Sharma, chief of Nepal Electricity Authority´s Load Dispatch Center (LDC), told Republica. He, however, said load shedding schedule of 38.5 hours will remain unchanged as water levels in the rivers have receded following the onset of winter.
The project with installed capacity to generate 70 MW of electricity has two turbines with 35 MW capacities each.
