Six injured in scuffle

UDAYAPUR, Sept 26: Six people, including a local UCPN (Maoist) leader, were injured in a scuffle between officials of Community Forest Users´ Group and the police here on Sunday.



District deputy secretary of the Maoist party Narayan Burja Magar and Lalpatta Forest Group´s Chairman Tanka Bahadur Paudel, among others, were injured in the scuffle. They are undergoing treatment at Udayapur-based hospital.



The fight ensued after the police tried to foil the group members´ bid to padlock the District Forest Office protesting the government´s July 16 decision to ban export of forest products.



Accusing the police of unleashing brute force against peaceful demonstration, the agitating party has called for a bandh in the district on Monday.



Likewise, forest users´ groups of Khotang and Okhaldhunga also staged protests against the government´s move.



12 arrested with marijuana



JANAKPUR, Sept 26: Police arrested 12 individuals who were found in possession of three quintals of marijuana on Sunday. The marijuana was found in a truck (Na 2 Kha 8428) that was traveling to India during police checking. The truck and those arrested have been handed over to District Police Office, Sarlahi.
