The expo has 65 stalls of 22 companies both from Nepal and abroad and will also provide information about the latest developments in mobile technology to the visitors, said Ambika Prasad Dhakal, President of Mobile Association of Nepal (MAN), the association of mobile phone distributors and retailers.[break]
Addressing the function, Minister Pokharel said that the government plans to increase the mobile density to 55 per 100 persons from existing 30 per 100 persons within three years. While this will dramatically expand the market of mobile sets, he also urged the distributors to bring in quality mobile sets in the country.
The expo, which has been organized keeping in view the upcoming Dashain festival, has many schemes and offers. The NTC has offered free SIM card with every purchase of 3G mobile set. Its customers can also convert SIM card to 3G by paying Rs 250.
Likewise, companies have also announced offers, including free t-shirts, caps, memory card and card reader with each purchase of mobile sets. Beside this, people can buy micro laptop "Varpardo" for Rs 6,200 (exclusive of VAT) at the expo.
Other attractions of the event includes GPS tracking systems, which could be used for controlling the incidents of bike theft, mobile tracker that can help find the lost mobile and recover lost contacts and numbers. The entrance ticket of the expo is priced at Rs 100. Students, however, have been offered 50 percent discount on entry fees.
